Diesel shortage in Sri Lanka severely affects tea production

Due to the shortage of foreign exchange and the inability to import enough diesel fuel, Sri Lanka, which is highly dependent on diesel power generation in addition to hydropower, has implemented a power outage for 13 hours a day. This situation affects the tea processing work in the central mountainous area of Sri Lanka. It is reported that Ravindra Hewawitharana, secretary of the Sri Lankan Plantation Ministry, will take steps to provide fuel to the tea industry under a special system after consultation with the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC).
